Miguel Sobrino

Miguel Sobrino was born in Mexico City, Sep. 10, 1960. His father Antonio Sobrino, an architect in Mexico, saw his son's interest in art at an early age. When Miguel was just 12 years old, he took some painting classes, which sparked his interest in art. Then, at the age of 15 his father enrolled him at the Carlos Peyicer Academy. Here he worked with Jorge Alarcon, a sculptor. Miguel worked with Jorge into his early 20's learning the art of sculpture.

Later, Miguel enrolled in the school of fine arts in Mexico City, "La Esmeralda". In 1983, he participated in the building of the monument "Templo al Viento" and got to know Taxco. After attending the school of fine arts, he moved to Taxco. Miguel then climbed into the mountains of Huezteco. He spent 6 years in the mountains carving stone and refining his art. He made his first individual monument in Tetipac, and called it "Caballero-Jaguar".

Currently Miguel has a gallery of his sculptures, paintings, and jewelry here in Taxco. He continues to devote himself to art and creativity. Be sure to check out some of his finished work here at dlair.com.
